The North Caucasus region is home to more than 50 ethnic groups, spread across 7 provinces and speaking 48 languages. Most ethnic groups are traditionally Muslim. Communities here have no churches or
Scripture in their languages. The ‘Operation
World’ prayer guide describes them as “some
of the least-reached on earth” and living “certainly
in Europe’s least evangelized region.”
In
this context there is a growing need for the preparation of Christian workers.
New workers are needed for both Russian speaking and Caucasus language churches. North Caucasus Bible Institute is
dedicated to preparing church-planters for this region.
The mission of NCBI states:
NCBI exists to prepare
men and women for Christian service through educational programs that
are both biblically founded and culturally relevant.
North Caucasus Bible Institute (NCBI) was established in
1998 with 24 students. Today, the school enrolls 139 students
from 60 churches in Southern Russia, studying pastoral theology, social education, worship arts, counseling and digital media for evangelism. Courses are taught by
41 local and visiting faculty. In addition to classes, our students work
in the field including leading children camps, worship conferences,
Bible studies and evangelistic outreach plus taking part in pastoral
internships.
"NCBI's affiliation with MTS will help us raise the academic level of our school as our programs are adapted to MTS' standards
and as teachers from MTS take part in teaching our students. This in
turn should attract more students - especially those who want a quality education like that at MTS, but cannot afford to go to Moscow for classes."
