Alumnus Leads Local Church

Meet Pavel Cheremisinov, Serving in Angarsk, Irkutsk, Russia

The church had to deal with an insurmountable obstacle. We rent an assembly hall in local maternity hospital. This is a public institution and the administration prohibits us from inviting and advertising to unbelievers to come to the evangelism services. So after fasting and prayer our church decided to build its own Prayer House this year.

With a single heart, church members decided to give a second tithe for building. In six months we collected $15,000 to begin building the Prayer House. We applied to the town authorities for a permit and a piece of land on which to build, but our application was denied. The authorities said that all the land within the town boundaries has been purchased. Building a Prayer House outside the town is meaningless.

Nevertheless, in a miraculous way on that same day, God gave us the opportunity to buy land within the town boundaries where cottages had been planned to be built. This is a very accessible place. There is a public transport stop nearby where buses from all over the town stop.

The church made a quick decision to buy that land (4,500 square meters for $55,000). Lacking all the funds, we took a loan from the bank. It is important that the land is already purchased and belongs to the church. This is an historic moment for us!
