From August 7-11, 2025, Christian leaders in Ukraine's eastern conflict zone warmly received a group of visiting Russian ministry leaders from the Union of Baptist Evangelicals. The Russian leaders toured and served in the regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, Mariupol, and Zaporizhia. Their objective was straightforward:
as longstanding partners in Gospel work, to strengthen their unity in Christ with one another
to worship and pray together
to identify strategic ways Russian ministry leaders can aid Ukrainian ministry needs
to serve together in onsite mercy ministries

Many people gathered for all the special services in each region, and the Russian guests were greeted very warmly. During each church visit, the guests preached, the choirs blessed brothers and sisters with special music, and all in attendance sang together in worship. It was a blessed time of fellowship and people did not want to leave. Everyone was grateful to have guests visiting them.

Many reports detailed how countless numbers of people in all the regions have open hearts, desiring spiritual guidance, and teaching. There is a great need for ministry workers as many in ministry have evacuated.

Constructive conversations in addressing this great need were encouraging and the leaders were united in efforts in continuing the work of building and supporting churches and spreading the gospel message in the surrounding society.
The Ukrainian leaders reported an acute need for pastors and preachers. People in the frontline territories have been coming to church in large numbers for spiritual guidance. They are drawn to God and to His comforting word. There is a great need for help to minister to these new congregants.

During their visit to a Kherson region church, the city was shelled and part of the church sustained damage. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Even so, people gathered for Sunday worship the next day. The church turned out to be a very necessary and special harbor for the residents of the town. Shelling occurred again that Sunday, but all those present in the service continued to listen with great hunger to those preaching the Word of God, trusting in the mercy of God.

Since that day, the leaders have reported that every Sunday up to a hundred people come, most of whom have never gone to church before. The people, finding themselves in extremely difficult situations, are seeking the Lord and His protection.

At the end of the regional tour, a group of volunteers organized and gathered in Mariupol from churches in different Russian cities for practical ministry work, caring for countless numbers of people in need of various kinds of help and support.
May the Lord be glorified in the service of the church on earth!
